Giving to UC Davis

Maureen Stanton, a professor in evolution and ecology, in the field teaching one of her students. Stanton was the 2005 recipient of the Teaching Prize, a prize funded by the UC Davis Foundation, which annually awards $30,000 to a faculty member for excellence in teaching.

UC Davis Foundation

Founded in 1959, the UC Davis Foundation is led by a volunteer fundraising board that helps to raise and increase philanthropic support, advocates for the university and manages a portion of the universityís endowment. The foundation receives private gifts to benefit UC Davis; manages its endowed gift funds and other private assets; and advises university leaders in areas related to public trust and support. The endowed funds it manages provide faculty, student and program support in perpetuity.

Role of the UC Davis Foundation

The foundation plays a vital role in generating much-needed private support for UC Davis. While the state of California provides critical core support to the university, philanthropic support is essential to maintaining our margin of excellence in all areas of education and research. The gifts that UC Davis receives through the foundation make a tremendous impact on the university, its students, faculty and programs. The UC Davis Foundation gratefully accepts gifts on behalf of the university and helps to ensure that those gifts present even greater opportunities for the university.

The foundation is run by an all-volunteer board of trustees.
